Here’s something for
music lovers and fans of underground, soulful house everywhere. In
late July, OM Records dropped a couple albums from two of electronic
music’s biggest and most respected names in the business.
DJ/Producer Mark Grant, with Sound Design 2, has raised the
bar, so to speak, for house music. This disc is the follow-up to
OM’s Sound Design 1 by Marques Wyatt, which earned the label
recognition as authorities in the world of house music. Grant, a
Chicago native, has earned his stripes with tracks like “Dancing,”
(as Chicago Connection) and the Braxton Holmes EP, and has
also turned out amazing remixes for Glenn Underground, Andre Harris,
Holmes and Green Velvet. Now, in 2001, Grant has realized his
masterpiece by incorporating the depth and experience he’s gathered
over the years. He grabs tracks and beats from cross the board and
ties them together in one seamless mix. All of the cuts work
together to set an overall mood. Grant will be promoting Sound
Design 2 this summer with a two-month tour. He’ll be spreading
the funk all over the country, kicking off in Cleveland and ending
in Austin. Catch him as he makes his way through your are.
