“Om
Records releases the second volume of their Sound Design series,
focusing on Mark Grant, who has been a resident DJ at Red Dog’s Boom
Boom Room here in Chicago for the past six years and going strong.
He has gained much success and attention as a producer at Cajual
Records, remixing tracks for Braxton Holmes Glenn Underground and
Green Velvet to name a few. From that platform, he recorded
material for Guidance and Sub-Urban and as early with Lil’ Louis, “7
Days of Peace.”
After about four years since his last mix CD, he returns to design a
soundtrack full of funky, disco house, acapella vocals, dynamic
Latin percussive beats and smooth it out in the end, jaz’soulfully.
A continuous mix of rare and hard-to-find gems, Mark carefully
mastered this mix from the opening of “What I Say” by Kaskade to the
closing of “Round and Round” by the Pasadenas. But the real mind
food sends your feet moving from the main embodiment of “Supreme
Soul Team” by Electrik Soul, “Dancing In Outer Space” by Atmosfear
and “Can’t Give You Up” by Milton Jackson.
By
the time you read this, the CD will be out on the shelves if not
gone. Along with the release, Om Records presents the Sound Design
Tour. Mark will hit our hometown on Aug. 15, so secure the date.
