Sometimes a record does exactly what it says it can do.  This is one such record.  Donna Blakely’s voice cuts like scissors through silk and takes the crown off my scalp every time.  Once you get with the celebratory vocal and the downright dynamic mooged-out, funked-up jazz pzazz of Boom Boom Room’s Soul Classic Mix it’s hard to progress beyond A1, yet you should because the “Original Paramount Groove” lets loose with live percussion, brass and Donna’s raw cane sugar adlibs like there is No tomorrow.  The Dub delves deeper with a bassline beacon to light your way.  Then when the lights are low and your legs are flagging, try “Gliding On The Moog” and you won’t look back.
